About AAL

Above All Laws (AAL) began as a video segment produced by Matthew Gonzales for Merced County News Television in 2014. It quickly grew in popularity and soon this website was established with the goal of informing Californians with truthful information to help them make informed decisions. We are not paid nor are we affiliated with any corporate or government media leaving us to investigate and report accurately and without filter.

An experienced musician since the age of 12, Matthew has continued to push his AV production skills throughout his life, which has led him to produce some of the most amazing and highly regarded high profile events. Including the Oscars Party at the Beverly Hills Hilton 2008 and 2009 and CRLA’s pre Grammy’s party honoring Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.

Matthew is the founder of Merced County California’s first television news broadcasting company called MCNTV News. Matthew sold MCNTV News in May 2016 and now owns both MattG Productions and it’s subsidiary MattG Media Group.

Matthew started MCNTV News after realizing a lack of local news and information from Merced County’s only newspaper, the McClatchy owned “Merced Sunstar.” He purchased a scanner and bean listening and translating emergency calls to the local community via the Facebook Page he created called Merced County News Television. Soon the community responded and Matthew began receiving story tips and invitations to cover community events.

Soon his coverage took a turn when the local county DA’s son was arrested for a drive-by shooting that had occurred about two years earlier. Matthew had been working on a positive story about the local DA when he was contacted by a retired investigator who was an avid viewer of MCNTV News. Matthew confirmed the information and attempted several times to call the cell and office numbers the local DA had given him for follow-up, but the DA did not respond. When the story broke MCNTV News was once again elevated as the go to source for accurate breaking news and information for the residents of Merced County.

Matthew’s work was not limited to just writing the stories, but he was instrumental in bringing justice through his reporting to many voiceless victims. Matthew was the first to report that the UC Merced youth who went on a stabbing spree was actually an ISIS supporter. He was contacted by many government insiders after that story aired and started receiving more information about the Obama admin’s attempts to suppress terror related incidents especially at a brand new UC.

Matthew was also invited to speak at the UC Berkeley’s Investigative Journalists class and has been featured in many interviews on both radio and TV. And as his work continues he hopes to be a small part of making positive change in California by exposing corrupt public officials.
